Sunday Funnies

When I was younger I think the Sunday funnies were my favorite part of the paper. Along with cutting out the coupons for my mom. (weird I know--but true) We don't receive a paper anymore and really I don't think it's necessary when you have a house with 4 children.

Today was a marathon day of video games after church. We broke out the "old school" games and I was in my element trying to remember the secrets to Super Mario Brothers. After dinner we decided enough was enough and told Taylor and Jared it was time to head off to bed. There was a couple of moans and then Jared pulled this out of his head.........

Jared said in a matter of fact tone, "Remember by playing a lot of video games, you can become a great doctor!" He was referring to the study on arthroscopy a few months back. Have you heard of this? I think Doug mentioned it in passing to him (but couldn't remember for sure). He should have known that Jared has an amazing memory. Nothing gets past that kid and you can always count on him throwing a piece of advice back your way. At any rate it gave us a good laugh. As did this:

Today Luke spoke in church. He is our most timid child and rarely does anything in public that you ask him to. He very bravely got up at the pulpit with help from his big sister Taylor. Taylor held up the photos as he did his talk. He spoke very loud and clear into the microphone (I must add he has a typical 4-year old lisp when he talks) I really wish I could have video taped it. One of the lines was "Jesus was born in a stable", but Luke proceeds to say he was "born in a staple." It may not seem funny, but to hear it was. It was very cute. Needless to say, Sunday was definitely full of laughter in our home.

"Life's a box of chocolates......"

Life is NEVER dull in our home. Yesterday and this morning have been fairly interesting. None of which go together, hence the title of my post. Picture yourself with three boys all VERY wild of course running through Costo. I really only had intentions of it being a 15 minute trip. Wrongo. Mine and Doug's contacts were ready to be picked up and I wanted to grab a package of diapers (i love their housebrand). Anyways, we had just eaten dinner and the smell of pizza must have triggered their tummies because they were ALL screaming, mom I am starving!! I decided to give in and have them split one slice (you know they are huge). As I was trying to cut up pizza and get everyone situated Luke would not stop touching things. I was getting a bit edgy and said, "Luke please just stop--I will get your pizza as fast as I can." Mind you everyone in the eatery was starring at me like I was crazy. In response to my frustration Luke looked at me with the most serious face (he is very good at this) and said "Mom just CHILL OUT!" I about lost it and just busted up laughing. Of course I turned my head when I did this. The guy next to be busted up too. Trying to hold it together I was cutting up the pizza. Luke was oblivous to it because he said "mom why are you laughing?" I just said, just because no reason.

Fun good mail

On our way home we stopped by to get the mail since it had been since Monday. I received the sweetest package from Kari. I must say that the candy did not last and is now gone. She sent andes mints, tootsie rolls and a few other cute things. Thanks Kari! As I was bringing in the mail Jared replied, "Why do you ALWAYS get all of the packages?" I want to get mail too! He did get some of his postcards this week, but said he wanted to get some everyday. It was kinda funny.

Today has been an adventure in itself we woke up with no hot water. Oh, so lovely. I can laugh about it now, but when I was showering this morning the water was so cold my ears hurt! The other bummer was it was hair washing day (I normally go three days and it was day three!). I am just hoping to get a hold of our plummer so he can fix it soon.

Another thing I failed to mention was yesterday when I told Luke to please stop climbing on the couch like Spiderman. He said "mom I am not spiderman I am Buzzlight Year and I come in peace." Gotta love that kid!
