Busy

Thursday was just a bit crazy (well thats really an understatement). It was really busy, hence no post from me. Anyways, I really have been trying to once again be more PATIENT with my kids and stop and "live" for the moment. Which means if they need something I have stopped right then what I am doing to assist. I figured I can't expect them to turn off the tv or whatever they are doing if I need something if I don't do the same. I have really noticed when I did that this week how differently I viewed things. I thought I would take a moment and just write out the funny, great, wonderful things and how rewarding being a mom is.

Luke-(our lets just say more difficult child) helped me in the yard yesterday. He really is a very hard worker. He will do anything to help you especially if it involves going outside. When I was out mowing he said, "mom need a coke, water bottle or something?" He also got the broom out to begin sweeping after I had edged the yard. He really is a great kid!

Weston-It just fun to hear him laugh outloud. He has got such a great laugh and I love his little smile. I enjoy rolling around on the ground with him and tickling him until he can no longer stand it. And I just can't squeeze him enough! I also love that he calls everything "doggy"

Jared--Okay, normally I wouldn't allow this to happen, but I did and it ended up being kinda funny. I made the boys some pizza crusts with sauce and let them eat it outside. Well, of course the sauce went all over the porch. So, I hosed it off so that it wouldn't cause a red ant infestation. I started spraying the hose (much like a rain storm) when the boys were playing baseball. Jared somehow got the hose and began acting like he was going to the bathroom (you know with the hose) Not appropriate but I admit it was pretty funny. During this time the hose was bent and began spraying over everything which included ME! So I was drenched, he was drenched as was everyone else. We all just laughed it off. Good times!

Taylor-She is my emotional rollercoaster. And so much like me is really quite FREAKY. I think that is why we butt heads so often. We had an argument over something earlier that day. Having said that she is one who writes everything down in her journal. Whether she is mad, upset or sad. I have to admire her for that because she does it in very good detail. Anyways, I got this letter from her after I had put her to bed. (She is always up reading or writing) She claims it makes her sleepy. Well, and I just can't argue over that. She writes (I copied it just as she wrote it):

Dear Mom, Sometimes I can be naughty and whine a couple of times. But what matters is you feelings right inside your heart. I know we can be bad and I know it's hard for you. But what's important to me right now is you. I know your always cleaning and have stuff to do. But I Love you lots and that's what matters most! I love mom's yes I do I love mom's how bought you? From Taylor

All these small things that have occurred over the week have made me realize and continue to realize how much I love being a mother. Despite my complaining and grumbling I do a lot of the times I really wouldn't change it for the world!!

You may feel that you complain about your children but that is not how it comes across. It is very evident how much you love your children and how much fun you have with them. That's what they'll remember...the fun.

Funny picture, Jenny! Thanks for the reminder to step back and enjoy my children! I don't do that nearly enough. I'm glad you took the opportunity to do that this week.

I was reading a book the other night and one of the characters was explaining how hard it was that her son had gotten older and didn't want her to hug and touch him anymore. But her desire to hadn't changed so she just missed him and touching him. My kids are so affectionate (sometimes too much) and I feel like screaming, "give me some space!" After reading this, however, I realize that I only have a couple more years of free physical expression with Seth. Soon, he won't sit on my lap, I won't be able to pick him up (barely can anymore) and hugs will become needy on my part. So, like you, I'm trying more to enjoy this moment....this age. It's hard to have hindsight in the present but I want to look back and know that I took every opportunity to love them.

Sweet, sweet post about your children. I love the note from Taylor. Lindsey always knows just what to say to make me realize that I'm not always being fair. Love those girls!

Hey Aaron has fallen asleep in the shower before! He slid right down the wall and plopped face down right into the tub...ROFL!

That letter from Taylor was so astute...there are couples who have been married for 40 years that don't get that principle...that is is people's feelings inside that count, not all the annoying things we do. Smart chickadee.

Great post- I like how you singled them all out. I have been trying to stop more and pay attention to what Mya does and it really makes a difference in how I feel towards motherhood. Thanks for the reminder!

that is so wonderful to think of each one in specific things and also the way you think about them makes you love them more! thanks for sharing...it is funny hugh? sometimes looking back at all the things they do it is good to give in once in awhile to be part of their world...In my last post...I am glad I didn't delete the picture of me and my boys...since I don't have very many of them...even if it is not the best...I should thank my husband for have taken it!
great post!
thanks for your thoughts!

Thanks for sharing. I admit I fall in the guilty category when it comes to living in the moment. I feel I am always rushing around trying to keep up with housework, yardwork, exercising,...that I never am enjoying the little things, especially the girls, in life.

I'm glad you listed the things they do that make you smile. I need to do that more often.

The letter from Taylor is very sweet. She's very fortunate to have a talent for writing and a desire to do so because she'll be able to process her feelings and share them with others more easily than she would be able to otherwise. That's healthy and a great way to cope when frustrated.

The boys sound cute and I love it that Luke was offering you a coke, water bottle or something.
