This Day

I think it's quite comical when I snap a photo of my kids each Sunday, if only you could be a fly on the wall. And there was noise in the background. (I guess it's good there isn't :) I would be labeled the wicked witch!! Jared isn't pictured because he was mad about something and right before snapping it the little boys were totally fighting. Ahhh.... welcome to Sunday mornings in my house. Once again, I found myself dreading church. I hate that I do that, but truth be known it's hard to even get anything out of church with noisy little boys. I am SO glad I made myself go, because today was probably one of the best high council Sunday's we have had in a long time. I even managed to take a few notes. Woo hoo for me! The talks were based on Elder Eyring's talk in General Conference.

She started out by discussing the daylight savings and how we have a few more hours each day. With this "extra" time that we have what are we doing? Are we using our time wisely? Heavenly Father has given us this extra time to prepare ourselves and not put off things of importance.

"Even the Savior, who was without sin set an example of the need not to procrastinate. He said: I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."

I can only speak for myself, but I am the queen of procrastination and making terrible use of my time. Hello? Internet usage literally can waste away some of my days. We were also given a quiz by the sister who taught relief society today. It was a list of questions asking us how prepared we were for eternal life. (I'll spare you the guilty questions) I'll I have to say for myself is ouch! I definitely have a lot of work to do and to set my priorities in better order. I have found myself falling into the traps of Satan many times. Here is a quote that really hit home:

"Complacency can affect even the seasoned adult. The better and the longer you serve, the more likely that the tempter can place this lie in your mind: "You have earned a rest." You may have been the Primary President in your little branch twice. Or may have worked long and hard on your mission and sacrificed so much to serve. Or perhaps you were the pioneer in the Church where you live. The thought may come: "Why not leave the service to the new people. I have done my part." The temptation will be to believe that you will return to serve again, someday."

The best thing about leaving church is feeling a sense of tackling your weaknesses. We learn and study the same principals each week, I know I have a lot of work to do. I am just grateful for the opportunity to repent these things and for a loving, forgiving Savior. On our way home, I was feeling rejuvenated and spotted this on our drive home. I loved seeing the rows upon rows of black eyed susans line the road.

My son continues to challenge my patience on a day to day basis. Did I mention I am thankful for repentence?? Jared thinks he needs to undress himself in the car on the drive home. It literally erks me and Doug to no end. I stopped the car and told him to fix his tie or he would be wearing it the remainder of the day. He had his shirt unbuttoned and tie almost completely off! I know mean mom, but we have warned him about this several times. Grrr. Looks like time is wasting away sitting here, I am off for family scripture study.

good deed: got some stuff organized for the ward party.

It's good to stick to rules, I've pulled off the side of the road before to prove a point. I wouldn't say - mean, I'd say that your a good mom for teaching him. Sunday's are some of the busiest mornings and days for us too. Glad you felt inspired to share Eyring's talks with us, we all need a little push to organize or lives better. Thanks for all your comments! Very sweet!

Crystalyn has a post about time right now, too. You guys are really making me think about that!

It's so great to come home from church really feeling enlightened and ready to work on things. It's been a while since I've felt that way right after church. Nursery usually wipes me out, so I'm anything but enlightened after.

I am a new blogger and linked to your address a week ago. I love reading your blog. Today you inspired me. As the primary chorister(which I do love) I really miss R.S. lessons!

Great quotes! I too have much work to do. And by the way, You might not feel so mean if you were a fly on my wall Sunday mornings!

Your kids look so cute all dressed for church. I completely understand the tie battle. We actually don't even fight it anymore. We gotta choose our battles with our boy and it's one we've decided is not worth fighting. He too starts taking off his church clothes the instant he gets the chance!

Glad you had some good meetings and left feeling uplifted!

I was so surprised on High Council Sunday my girls were quite and the talks were awesome. I sat there thinking of how much I procrastinate. I'm the queen for sure. I've never looked at daylight saving time the way they pointed it out today. I, negative Nelly, on many summer days find myself wishing for nightfall so my kids will be off in dreamland. Now I will be wishing the sun to stay up so I can get more important things done.

I'm sorry you are having difficulties with Jared. He will outgrow it soon I'm sure.

I loved this talk. Thanks for sharing your thoughts today. Really something I need to work on. My husbands tie comes off as soon as he gets in the car. :)

My boys start undressing before we even get to church. I just read Crystalyn's post on making good use of time as well. Hm...is this something I need to hear?!

I love that you photograph your kids each Sunday. Such cute pictures.

It sounds like you had a wonderful meeting! I need to start using my time more wisely. It seems with summer I tend to get way off schedual. My boys are taking their ties of in the parking lot of the church. I always kick my heels off as sooon as I get in the car. I always want out of those clothes, and into something comfy! I am going to send an e-mail to you, We for sure need to get together while you are in town! :)

Making good use of our time is so hard. I love talks on it, they always make me want to do better and choose how I use my time instead of not really know where it went.

It is hard when the kids won't cooperate. How hard is it?! (Hard, I guess because I don't mind all of the time either.)

It cracks me up that Jared undresses as soon as church is over. Maybe that's because I'm not the one dealing with it. I understand the feeling though, at least wanting to get out of formal clothing.

Great Sunday pictures. Your kids are so cute!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts...it's nice to know that I'm not alone in going bald from pulling my hair out about my little boy!

Score on being able to take notes at church today and for having a good high council Sunday. Talks about time are always interesting and humbling for me because I'm either super efficient or wandering around flitting from one thing to another with nothing to show for my day.

I may have an idea where Lelly got her bracelet. Let me know if you want one.

That's fun that you DO snap a picture each Sunday! And I'm so with you on what a chore Sunday's are lately!!

And our high council Sunday's are the third Sunday not the fourth, interesting?!!

It's nice to know we're not the only ones that feel like Sunday's can actually be one of the most stressful days of the week. Ironic, huh? But the kids do look so cute!
