Five For Friday

1. You can tell Weston is definitely the baby of our family. He not only gets away with murder, but literally is ALWAYS hurt. He takes it like a champ and is pretty tough. Last week (all on the same day) he was stung by two wasps on his arm. He ran in from Angie's house screaming. I found the culprit at the top of the swing set. Darn them anyway! Luckily I had some Benadryl handy and he was fine. Later that evening we went to grab a bite to eat before heading on to the football game. He was screwing around (like most boys do) and managed to fall out of the booth on to the floor. He had an instant goose egg. It was sad. Today he seems to be very congested again. He can't seem to catch up!

2. Doug is famous for wanting to try new restaurants around town, especially if they look appealing. I on the other hand tend to stick with my favorites and call it good. However, I willingly went a few weeks ago with him to Dickey's BBQ and it was so yummy! It's no Rudy's, but you can't beat a close decent restaurant AND it even has a drive thru. It is a chain from Dallas, so there may be future ones in more cities. The downfall is that it is pretty much always crowded, so you have to wait a bit to eat.

Halloween 2007

3. We are getting closer and closer to Halloween. I was getting a bit panicky last week when I was reading about all of you going out getting Halloween costumes. Normally, I have them at my fingertips by now. If you don't know, our family is pretty hard core when it comes to Halloween. I think it stemmed when we started doing a entire family theme. It makes it more fun and exciting. Luckily, are kids have cooperated thus far. I really wanted to be Harry Potter this year, but I was booed about that. I will have to give Doug credit for our decision this year. We made an executive decision on being___________ (sorry to be a tease, but it would spoil ALL the fun--for those of you who know shhh!) You'll have to wait until October 27th when our family has been revealed. Here is a photo of what we were last year just for fun. (hey and it kinda goes with the in honor of pirates day this week) Arrg!

Spunky Luke and a very serious Weston

4. Luke and Weston are such good troopers each morning. I get them up extra early (they really would be getting up anyways) get them dressed and into the stroller. It's quite a production with the toys, snack items (normally 2nd breakfast), and a sippy cup full of liquid. I have it down to a science-phew! Anyways, I have started adding on an extra mile to my walk, not only to change scenery, but I figured I have been doing 3 miles for the past 2 years. The thing I love is the "bumpy" road we go down on our way back home. I always welcome this bright cheery yellow mailbox. It stands out and happens to be mile marker 3, which means only one more mile to go!

Isn't it cool?

5. We finally started getting the newspaper. I signed up for "Sunday" only, but apparently you get the rest of the week thrown in for free. In my opinion, it's a waste of paper, an extra tree to cut down and more trash to contend with. After picking the paper up for a few days and automatically chucking them it the trash, it dawned on me I could use them. Several months ago my grandma told me that using newspaper was a great tool to use for your windows. It not only leaves a nice clean mirror but without the streaks. Yesterday I decided to test it out and actually used the paper on my car windows. It worked like a charm. The only drawback is your hands become a little black, but that is easy to fix with soap and water.

good deed: printed and mailed something off to grandma.

Poor little Weston. It's tough to be accident prone.

I love that you guys dress up as a family for Halloween and can't wait to see what you choose to be this year.

Poor Weston, I don't know how little kids manage so many falls, they must not feel them for as long as adults do, otherwise they'd stop being adventurous.

I want to dress up for Halloween this year but don't have a good idea.

I love your 5 for Friday posts!

I just read your previous post also...too funny! I think it would be pretty flattering to know that you are a "trophy wife" and still desirable to other men. I don't think I ever got hit on BEFORE I was married, let alone after!

I am dying to hear what you are going to be this hear for Halloween! I love that you do a family these, very cute!!

I'll be anxious to see what you come up with for Halloween. We always struggle to get ideas together, usually scrambling at the last minute. We have an annual adults party at a friend's house and one year, Jon was so pathetic, he went as himself! In other words, no costume. We could use some of your creative juices up here.

oh wow- little W must be tough.

Very intrigued by the Halloween costumes. Haven't even talked to the girls yet about costumes. Cass mentioned a glamorous witch (huh?) and ellie changes hers often. Little black cat was last idea.

Can't wait for the Halloween reveal. I love doing a family theme. We did Star Wars a few years ago - it was so funny!
Your poor little W! Good thing he bounces back so quickly!

Woo Hoo it's Friday. Usually I'm not so happy for school to be out for a few days, but seriously these 6 am wakeup calls are getting to me!!

I'm sorry Weston is feeling under the weather again. Maryn too is congested with her first, of many runny noses for the fall and winter. URGH!! It makes them so crabby.

I want spill the beans about your Halloween surprise. The Gordon's will just be modge podge this year. The girls all are wanting their own "identity" this year. I best get working on them or we may be in trouble.

Weston is so dang cute! At least he handles it all well. I have some pretty "sensitive" boys. No rough and tumble around here (probably my fault for being so girly). Love the list! I love how hard core you are with halloween! Way fun! I am trying to pull together a family theme for us...we'll see if it comes together or not.

Good job on the running! 4 miles blows me away. I've just worked up to two and it's a struggle. baby steps...but I keep at it. You seriously inspire me!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Oh my, and that last post is GREAT! You are not a plasticy, fake kind of Trophy Wife! You are a Trophy Wife in the best sense of the word! You've got it ALL going on - not JUST beauty, but the WHOLE package! :)

I love your 5 for Friday posts. They are so fun.

I totally love the family theme and am anxious to see what you decided. So fun! Have a good weekend. Hopefully Weston will slow down just a bit to recoup. :D

I love Weston's hair in that pic. Yes, he does seem to be prone to everything! He is such a doll, though!

I can't wait to see what you all are going to be for Halloween! I gave in and told somebody at work I would work for them and now I am bummed b/c Aaron had plans for us. I don't think I am dressing up this year though.

This comment is for your last post-you still got it-you hot Mama! Don't you love when nasty guys hit on you;)

Newspaper is what I had to use growning up. It does work good but for some reason I can't bring myself to use it today. Must be a childhood nightmare to clean windows then have black hands.

I can't believe you go that all out for Halloween. I'm impressed. I get a little bah humbug about it because thinking of costumes stresses me out!

Weston's a little doll! I hate when they get instant goose eggs!

5 for Friday posts are the best!

You're going to be Edward and Bella aren't you, and your kids will be glittery Cullens!

I can't wait to see what you'll be. I thought your pirate theme last year was great. Are you in charge of the ward party again this year?

Boys will be boys. :) Poor Weston, I cannot believe he was stung by two wasps!

I cannot wait to see what you end up being for Halloween. It is my FAVOIRTE holiday. I won't get to dress up this year because I will be in Hawaii. But, I can't really complain about that. :)

I am BEYOND impressed that you walk that much every morning. You inspire me! Especially since you are as busy as you are (with so many kids) that is amazing that you make it such a priority. I think you look great!

Oh poor weston!

This was a fun post. Ryan also like to try new restaurants.
Our town is not all that big, so it is hard t find new ones :)!

Now I am so hungry for BBQ.
Can't wait for your reveal! Are you ever going to recycle your ideas through the years, or a new theme each time around? I wouldn't put it past you - you are so creative!

Melinda said...

My little Ryan has to deal with the same stuff. I am so shocked he hasn't had brain damage from the other kids.

I am excited to see what your family is for Halloween! How fun!

You come up with such great ideas for halloween. I am struggling to figure it out this year. Maybe you could post what you have done in the years past to give all of us non creative people (its probably only for me) some ideas for this year.

No costume for me this year. I don't like Halloween. And I think I can still stuff my boys into their costumes from last year. They think it's great to get to wear them again! it's all about perspective:)

That stretch of road looks like a great place to walk. I've started going to a city parkway because I don't like walking around cars...which is my only option around where I live.

I have read about, but not tried the newspaper thing. You may have convinced me to give it a shot.
We are totally lame with Halloween costumes - mostly the kids dig through the dress up box and then I buy them some important accessory to pull off whatever idea they come up with on their own. Ken calls himself the Halloween Grinch. But we live on a street of big time Halloween fans, and we always have a block party. I fear one day I'll have to host it in my own garage. Arrg!
