Five For Friday

I couldn't resist taking a photo of all those 5's

1. About a week ago I was due for an oil change AND that fun "car checkup" I put off last time. I always cringe on these occasions because they are a pretty penny. BUT, I always said if and when I got a new car I would take care of it. So here I am doing the deed. It's hard to believe that we have owned our car for three years now. I sensed that my breaks were wearing a little thin so I had asked them to check them out as well. I expressed that I had never gotten new ones and wondered what the approximate mileage you could get on them. Of course he said it depends on the driver, etc. Roughly he said around 20-30,000 is normal. That was when I said well, I guess I do pretty good because my car has 55,000 miles on it! Woo-hoo for my driving :)

Cute Patrick

2. We had a family move into our neighborhood this past summer. They have three boys and a girl like our family. This is Patrick and is seriously a crack up. He speaks like an adult and always wants you to watch him do tricks on his bike. I had to bring up Patrick because I was running with Doug a few weeks ago and he said, "Hi sister Gordon!!" I almost didn't correct him, but felt compelled to. I think he was a bit embarrassed, but it was pretty funny. I am waiting for the day people ask me, when did you have your baby??!

3. I put a rush on my Christmas cards this week and received them in the mail on Tuesday. I was a bit nervous since I have never ordered online cards. I checked several companies and found this one to be the most reasonable. I think they turned out pretty good, and hey their done right? Luke and I spent yesterday afternoon stuffing envelopes. Now all I need to do is address them and in the mail they go.

4. A couple of Sunday's ago I had to run home and grab something during Sunday school block of church. On my way back, I was driving through a residential neighborhood and being tailgated. This urks me to no end when people do that. What if there were kids near the road? I was doing the speed limit and it also happens to be an area that cops hang out. Well, the person behind me apparently thought I was driving much too slow and sped by me super fast. She sped by me to pass! I bring this up because it wasn't a teenager, but an OLD lady with handicap tags on her mirror. What in the world? Maybe she had to go to the bathroom, was late for somewhere or something, but geesh!

5. Is anyone bummed about the writer's guild going on strike? They are going on the second week. I know that doesn't effect reality shows, but Jon Stewart, The Office. Heroes, and other shows like 24 and Lost are halting. Good thing I have DVR'ed so many shows and haven't watched them yet or I may be having t.v. withdrawals!

good deed: replaced the fire alarm in one of the bedrooms

I am so sad about the strike. They said that if it goes on much longer scrubs won't be able to finish out the season and it is their last!! Oh, the humanity!

I can't believe an old lady passed you. What the heck. Aren't they supposed to be slow?

I love your 5 for Friday's posts! They are always so great.

We are so BUMMED about the strike!! We feel like we waited all summer for our shows to come back and now we have to wait longer...AHHHH...at least the office was funny last night...such a great show!

Love your post!! You already have your Christmas cards??? Oh, I'm envious. I have to get on the ball in a hurry I'm afraid.

I loved how it was an old lady who passed you. That is classic! :D Some are just plain nuts.

Wow, you are good on brakes! I need mine to get replaced now too.
Although, I'm patiently waiting for Laren to do that, since he's the mechanic too.

I just got my Christmas Cards back yesterday too, but I had mine done at Costco. You must take a picture of yours so I can see what they look like. I'm sure they're great! :)

That's good stuff. I don't think I've every even gone 20,000 miles before a brake change. I'm usually the one tailgating and passing.

Christmas cards checked off the list must be a big relief.

I can't believe your Christmas cards are done! I haven't even started them or taken a picture yet! And I have no idea what this Writer's thing is you're talking about, but you have me worried! I'll have to investigate! Have a good one!

I have my Christmas cards assembled and stuffed too, just need to finish addressing them.

That is funny that even kids are still mistaking you for Angie.

Cute neighbor boy. Heroes & Lost haulting??? I love those shows and Lost hasn't even started back up yet. Love that you have your Christmas cards already. I usually get those early, too. This year I"m printing my own, so I need to get on that. I already have my samples printed. Now I need to finish & get envelopes. Way to go! We had someone on the freeway flash their lights at us to get us to change lanes (we were in the haul-butt lane during the day and they were in a minivan). C'mon folks, really? flashing your lights? geez how rude! We were already going 5-10 over the speed limit, but I guess we just weren't driving crazy enough so he wanted us to move!

One show that I don't care to watch and am happy they can't write is.... 24. I know I'm the only one but I never can hear what they are saying and the music is so loud. I was pregnant with Lila when it started and have never enjoyed it since then. Call me crazy.

Great post, I really need to remember this one Friday.

Good thing I like some reality TV or there would be nothing to watch. I just keep thinking it will be over fast but I doubt it.

I hate crazy drivers that get there 14 seconds before you. So not worth it. Funny it was an old lady.

Very impressive with the Christmas Cards! I am always way too last minute with that one! I'm a little envious!

The whole writer's strike stinks, but I, too am behind in shows.

Wow-I am so impressed (and jealous)that you already have your cards! I haven't even thought about ours yet. I better get on the ball. I am also sad about the strike. Maybe it will help me to watch less tv. Could be a good thing-yeah right!

Ok i am so bummed about the strike. I hope Lost we be back in Jan. What will i do with- out LOST? I will be LOST!

Oh - Lost better be up in Jan or I will do something drastic! It is painful for them to make us wait this long. Honestly -
I was literally run off the road while living in Florida by an elderly couple. I had to call the police and file a report!
Congrats on your Christmas cards! I honestly don't know what to say about that. I am in denial that Thanksgiving is this week! Time is flying past me!

I know you are always early with your Christmas cards and responsibilities, but to actually see your huge box of cards this early in November is mind-blowing to me. I'm lucky if I get ours out a month from now!

I love it that you got passed by an old lady!

I hope the writer's strike doesn't last too long.
