I anticipated your 31 days to drag, but you proved me wrong in so many ways. You happen to be one of my favorite months not only because you are the month my baby was born, but March is the start of the "green" season, the budding of trees and flowers begin to bloom again. You also allow us a much needed break from school, in which we were able to go home and enjoy the AZ sunshine. Although it was a week of mixed emotions, I learned during that week how much I depend on Diet Coke. It has become a stress reliever for me (much like a chained smoker--how sad!) So much that Doug was asking, do you really need another one?--it became comical. Yes, honey I did! (I'll spare the ounces per day I consumed). Spring break felt like a blink of an eye. Literally. We chose to drive back through the night to allow our kids to experience the annual Clouse egg hunt with all of their cousins.
Bringing home WAY too much candy. It felt like Halloween deja' vu. We left Arizona feeling ready to be back with family and ecstatic we were able to find a home close to "perfect" for our family. (For those who are interested you can email me and I will be more than happy to send you a link to photos and our new floor plan. My photos didn't turn out so well).
The week after spring break I went into selling mode and getting our house ready. I spent the week touching up paint, power washing, painting our front trim, front door and even managed to drag Angie into my "preparation" process. We spent our creative Friday putting mulch in my front and back flower beds. We were so black from dirt--I can't believe I forgot to take a photo). Afterwards, we quickly moved furniture so that Gilbert the chem dry man worked his magic on my 6 year old carpet. I was pleased at the results and it really looks like we put in new carpet. (I was skeptical about doing it--but glad I did).

Saturday the 27th of the month was the official day the sign went up. I wasn't worried about the house selling, but now the doubt is setting in. Will someone really buy our house? The tricky part about selling is keeping it looking like a pristine "model" home.
I am a clean person, but to have the vacuum marks, the laundry washed and put away at the drop of a hat really is exhausting. If only we could "freeze" the way our house looks. Ha. The kids are now into the thick of baseball. I am actually enjoying it more than I imagined. The only trouble is that we have 4 games a week between Taylor and Jared (with all the other activities), making our schedules just a little tricky.
Yesterday we had our first call for a showing. The bummer part was we were at church and it also was fast Sunday. Our dinner plans quickly changed to sandwiches (instead of tasty grilled burgers) and some family time at the park.
It was nice to get out, but at the same time I feel as though we are prisoners in our own home. I know so many can relate because you have either been there or have recently sold a home. But, we are managing and March really has been good to us. How can we complain after finding a home, spending a week with family and coming home to great friends? The downfall on the other hand is we STILL don't have our Honda back. That is another post within itself.
blessing: a car to drive

This makes me a little sad, knowing things are now official. You REALLY WON'T be Texans forever. We have to vow to stay close even across the miles. Glad I could help on the prepping of the yard. Remember to think positive and the pain of keeping everything perfect will soon be gone. I kind of wish I would havekept up my habits I had wile selling our house, BUT I didn't.
WOW! Looks like I have missed out on your updates for awhile. Glad to hear that you have found a house that you will enjoy! It is so hard to keep up with the house for showings while still trying to live in the NOW with littles! Good luck - I am sure that things will fall into place!
How fantastic to be able to move back HOME! I would LOVE to live near family!
You have had a BUSY month!! I can not image having to keep my house perfect for selling. I know I could not do it! We are messy people at my house. Clean.. but MESSY!!
Four ballgames a week sounds like fun but tiring! I hope the Texas weather makes them enjoyable!
Good luck with selling your house! I hope it goes quickly for you.
I'm sad reading this only because we are in the process of losing some of the closest friends we've ever had to a move. The change has been hard, it was my first morning running without her, and hearing about all your changes only emphasizes my still-raw wounds.
I'm glad for you, though. Glad that you've found a house that you love and glad that it's been a good month.
Good luck with the house and with getting that darn car back!
Your house looks great! Your hard work has paid off. Good luck with everything, it's so much work keeping things looking perfect, especially with 4 kids.
I'm glad March proved to be better than April for you guys!
I can so relate on the not being able to live in your own house when selling. We just sold 1.5 ago it took nearly 9 months for us to sell - I'm sure you will fair much better than that in Texas!
I'm going to email you for pics!
Selling a house is a pain... so much so that I will choose to stay here with a few imperfections rather than start over! Good luck.
If you do a group e-mail I would love to be included to see pictures of your new home!
Maybe being busy will help in keeping the house clean..?
Jenny, I can SO relate to your last few paragraphs. Having our house for sale for 9 of the last 12 months has not been fun. I definitely feel like a prisoner to it because there's always a chance someone could call to come see it. Your house looks great in the picture. I'm sure someone will find it's the perfect house for them.
I do want to see pictures of your new home! Almost perfect is pretty amazing to find.
The home selling is SO much trouble. Good luck on a really quick sale! So stressful, but what is around the bend for you is so, so, so exciting!!
Man you got your house listed fast. Good job and here's hoping it sells fast. It's true, you really feel like a prisoner in your home while selling.
Good luck! Maybe baseball will actually help with the pressure of selling--you'll be gone more than usual!
I'm excited for your new possibilities. I can't wait to see your new house.
oh my selling house and all that...i had a warm smile from tasty grilled burgers to sandwiches...wow! what a sacrifice..... I hope things go well, and gosh things are materializing for sure!
seriously no van yet? wow! glad you have so many other things to think about.. hopefully it will be ready before your move!:)
hope you house sells quick and good luck with the showings.. that has got to be hard to have your home ready to show so often and quickly..
take care
I love your monthly letters. Good luck with the house.
I can sympathize about selling your house. It will all work out in the end and then you guys will be back in AZ with your families! Trust me...it's great to be home after being away so many years! BTW- Your home there is really nice-- love the brick!
Still no car?!
Your carpet looks super and at least your house is showing already!! I miss that Texas market. My house there sold in less than a month. Here in Louisiana, ours has been up 6 weeks and not even one bite yet. Nothing.
I'm with you - my house is always clean, but it's hard to keep it straight and in show condition with kids around.
I can't believe you still don't have your car! That's awful.
I'm so excited for you guys. It has been a long time coming. You deserve more family time, a basement and tons of fun in the sun!!
I want to see the new pad too!
Jenny,
I hope the house sells quickly so you won't be prisoners in your home for too long!
I'd love to see the pics of your new house.
It's so hard to sell a home and I so hear what you mean about being a "prisoner" in your own home - it just feels like once the sign is up, it really isn't yours anymore. Your picnic fast sunday dinner, I hope won't happen often, but it looks like you made the most of it!
