Five For Friday

1. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but our house is still standing without any offers. And driving me insane! We have now lowered the price for a 2nd time. I am beginning to think we have the oddest floor plan in the city.(since this is the only complaints I am getting on the feedback--by this website) I am not sure if it's a blessing or a curse that we have had over 25 people track through our home. On one side it's great since we are getting so much traffic, but frustrating that no one is even LOW balling us. Seriously. The good news is that one person that walked through does really like it, but is having to wait for her job. I am not going to hold my breath, but perhaps it may come to pass. I have the "showing" number set for a weird ring on my phone and the minute it rings they yell, clean up we have to leave! My kids have gotten the drill down to a science. Luke continues to crack me up with his mumbling comments regarding the whole selling process. The other day as we were leaving I was in my own world and heard Luke say under his breath, "well, if they don't like it they should just go home!" Once I asked him to repeat it, he said I didn't say anything.

2. I have decided that picking out furniture is much more challenging than I imagined. I am not sure if it's because I have never really done it, or I fear I will hate it within a year. The difficult part is that our carpet will be chocolate brown. Some may think ick, but I have a few friends that have put it in their homes and swear by it. However, when looking at furniture most of the stuff I am liking is brown or black! I am definitely going to have a decorating crisis. This was one of the couches that Doug and I really liked the other day. It was SUPER comfy and I just love the smell of leather.

playing nintendo for "sick" day on the couch

3. My boys some how caught a stomach bug, which constantly is sending them to the bathroom this week. They have no other symptoms other than they will be playing happily and suddenly say, "I am going to be sick!" or my stomach hurts and run for the toilet. I opted to keep Jared home yesterday since I didn't want him to be mortified if he didn't quite make it to the bathroom. (which did happen for each one of them--yuck!) It does make it challenging for #1. I am constantly lighting candles so my house doesn't smell like a public restroom! Who wants to buy a stinky house?

4. Television. Did anyone watch Fantasia?? Holy moly. It was awful and disturbing! The best was Simon's reaction when the cameras panned on him. I couldn't stop laughing. I wasn't surprised by American Idol and the 2 David's being in the finals. I am really not a fan of David Archuleta primarily because his type of music doesn't tickle my fancy. Not that I don't think he has an amazing voice. I just like David Cook's style. I don't think it really matters who wins at this point, both will be getting a contract.

5. This past fall Doug and I took our older kids to So You Think You Can Dance's live performance. It was so much fun and one of my favorite shows. And guess what? The new season starts next Thursday. So set your DVR's for 7pm central time. I can't wait!

I am so excited for So You Think You Can Dance I can hardly stand it!!

Hang in there with the house...it will work out. Darn the economy right now. We want to sell our house too but do I really want to get rid of my little mortgage for a big mortgage right now? It's a dilemma. I can't wait to see a picture of your new chocolate brown carpet!!

I hope the boys are feeling better!!

Congrats on the new house! I'm not sure if Retrievers shed as much as labs. But if so, I have to warn you that white dog + dark carpet = carpet nightmares.

That is so frustrating about the house not selling. I hope that one person is able to buy it from you!!

That couch looks so nice!! I REALLY need new ones, but our living room is so tiny, that until we get a place of our own I can't see buying something new. I am so happy you are getting to buy all new things and decorate. I am excited to see how this chocolate brown carpet looks.

I've been watching my good friend go through the same house problem. It's just a bad market right now. It will sell eventually. Sorry that it's so stressful for you.

I too am a David Cook fan. It's been fun watching and the only thing that makes the season ending ok is that SYTYCD starts soon.

I am sorry about your home....such a pain!

I absolutely love the brown leather couch...it looks so comfy! I have such a hard time buying things for the house...my tastes change so often, not to mention that I don't really trust my own judgement!

I can't wait to see pics of your finished house! It is going to be gorgeous!!

I had the same thoughts about American Idol and Fantasia. Simon's face was priceless. Todd and I both were cracking up. That is how we felt too. I love Simon. He tells it like it is.

Good luck with the house. It will all work out with just the right buyer. Hang in there. :D Have a good weekend.

selling a home is so hard! Especially in this economy, there is so much competition!

I LOVE chocolate brown leather couches and have been looking for something for our family room :)

I agree with you, I like Dacid A voice better but am a bigger fan of David Cook because I like his style more.
Have a great weekend!

I love that leather sofa..does it have a curve to it? You could make it work on brown carpet if you have a great rug by the couch. But I LOVE the zebra chair next to it in the picture.

The house will sell...the house will sell..between you & Kel I'm getting nervous about this housing market. I want you both to be here in Arizona by summer.

David Cook is my favorite. Love his voice & style of music.

That is so frustrating. I am sure you'll be SO happy when this is done.
By the way, I LOVE David Cook and have a mini crush celeb on him. :)
And yes, Fantasia was a little wild!

I have a friend with chocolate brown carpet - she has 2 little boys and swears by it, especially with little kids around!

I love that sofa. Choosing furniture is very stressful. We have only bought a new bedroom set and a kitchen table for the new house so far and that was stressful enough!

I know the new house is so exciting!

I also have been checking out brown carpet. I don't think I could ever talk my husband into it.. but I love the look of it!

I hope you get some bites on your house soon! I love that the kids know the drill when your phone rings. That is funny!

I have a lot of browns in my house, including brown carpet. Maybe if you and punches of color with accessories you'll feel like you can get away with lots of browns and blacks.

Hope everyone is feeling better.

I gotta see if I still have AI Tivo'd so I can see Simon's face.

Luke's reaction is hilarious. Is it bad that I'm sure I'd have the same exact thoughts?

I totally skipped through Fantasia and when I heard about Simon's face, I had to go back and look. It was so classic, I loved it! She was... interesting to say the least.

Love that couch and the idea of a rug from Kristin. I'm not sure what I'll do when we actually get a place that I want to decorate and shop for. Fun and stressful all at once.

I am so excited about SYTYCD being on again! IT was definately a TV highlight last year! Your home must be so frustrating, I hope things change for the better. We've had two homes purchased by our company because we couldn't sell it - I know that's not an option for you, so I'm not sure how this is making you feel any better! Anyway, cute photos and I hope things look up soon.

oh man that sofa is to die for.... decorating is a hard thing, but just take it one room at a time...and things will fall into place...it is an art to be able to place your precious gifts/things, but that is what makes you, you....so just follow your heart and it will be good...I love earth tones alot
