A week ago we three hopped into the car for a last minute getaway in Pinetop. Not only to get out of the heat, but to celebrate our dear Tishia's birthday. I know when your older slumber parties don't actually exist. Us old folk enjoy our "own" bed too much. However, once in a while the rules bend.
We drove through beautiful Superior and Globe, Arizona. The conductor even waved at us.
3.5 hours later we arrived at our lovely hotel ala Tiffany's house.
The yellow house always puts a smile on my face.
Tiffany had arrived a day prior to us so that she could write. She has become a writer and is in the middle of writing a novel. I can't wait to read it! Apparently when we get away from our children we need to act like them. The first thing we did was jump on trampoline.
It wasn't long before we realized old women have weak bladders and well, it actually is pretty tiring.

So we bundled up (due to cooler than we are used to temperatures) and went to the local Mexican food place. We all left feeling like we ate a little too much grease. (but in a good way)
We arrived back at the house to immediately throw on sweats and our lounge clothes. Tiffany had planned a fun craft for us and showed us how to make flowers. The idea stemmed from the internet. Pinterest really is intriguing and addicting!
Tiffany gave us a tutorial and we crafted away. I can't even remember the last time I have been up until 1:30am. Good times. Amber even tried to jump on the trampoline at midnight to wake her up. No such luck, she zonked out within a few minutes after.
We awoke to crisp morning temperatures and went on a 2 mile hike.
Oh, how I love the pine trees and their smell! The views were gorgeous.
As was our breakfast, yummy not gorgeous. Pumpkin bagles for three and one honey wheat for moi.
I know shame on me for being the pumpkin hater.........
Hiking gave us an appetite for this quaint little bistro.
It did not disappoint. My Thai salad was delicious, as was Tiffany's.
Our trip was short lived due to family responsiblities. It was only 24 hours later when we had to head back to the valley. This is actually my least favorite part of the drive due to the windy road, but it really is a sight to behold.

It's not too often I stop for the "view look out point" This one I couldn't resist. It was nice to getaway and a perfect way to celebrate our dear friends birthday. Happy Birthday Tishia!! We love you!
