The stadium
Going to the ASU game Saturday definitely flooded me back with memories of my old stomping grounds.I am a tad biased to the Sun Devil Marching band since I marched right along with them over 15 years ago. Yikes!! Am I THAT old? Although the dance line primarily danced/cheered we were forced to learn formations and learn all the foot work the band did. I am not sure fans realize (or care for that matter) that new sheet music is learned each week for all the home games as well as all new formations. I always get goosebumps when I hear the good old
ASU fight song and
alma matter.

I searched high and low this past week for a gold ASU shirt only to strike out--it's never fun to wear your old one. But, I did anyhow. Over the years the students have switched from wearing maroon as their base color, to now gold. I love looking across the field to see the student section decked out in their spirited attire. We arrived just in time before the football team ran out on the field. One thing that Doug and I really wanted when we moved back was to attend some ASU football games. So, you can imagine our excitement when the opportunity arose to buy season tickets with his brother. Not to mention they are some of our favorite people to go out with.

As you can see my attempt of a self portrait with the four of us didn't turn out to well (considering I chopped off Dean's head). I was relieved when we walked up to our seats to find that most around us chose to actually sit and watch the game. (this is when you can tell you are getting old). Last time we went most of the alumni stood the ENTIRE time. Really not my way of watching a game.

Our seats are in a corner section of the goal line. And lets just say that ASU places their seats in closer quarters than I would prefer. I am sure this is the way all stadiums are set up, but seriously. It wasn't terrible when we arrived since a few ticket holders were missing. But after the first quarter began the HEAT set in. It was miserably hot. In fact, as I was observing the crowd most looked like they had just gotten back from a race. People were drenched in sweat not to mention our very own glistening faces. Ewwww.

Not very long after arriving I headed downstairs with Haleigh and Makayla to get a MUCH needed dehydrating drink (diet coke), I know dumb. But, man did it taste good! The game started off with a bang and ASU scoring their first touch down.

Of course each touch down their were a display of fireworks along with the good old fight song played in hyper speed. Once ASU pulled a few touch downs ahead I became distracted with things other than football (aka people watching and taking several photos with my camera). Despite the NASTY heat,
AND our clothes sticking to us like glue, it was really fun. College football is one of my favorite sports to watch, especially ASU. Final score 41-17 against Stanford. Go Devils!!
