Casino Night

Saturday night Doug and I headed over to the Hilton Hotel in honor of the Kings football league charity event. We purchased tickets which included a buffet dinner with $1000 worth of "play" money to gamble.

I was happy to sit back and watch, because truthfully I have NO clue how to play any sort of Vegas style games. If you don't know how to play this is most definitely the best way to learn.

Doug and Mark stuck with the black jack table the entire night. Their dealer Allison was actually super nice and pretty much told them when they should hit or not.

By the end of the evening Doug was up a couple thousand dollars than when he started. If only it was real money right? Once they closed the gambling you could exchange your chips for raffle tickets to enter into various drawings.

I would have liked the i-pad, but no such luck.

Mary and Heather were on the committee to help run the show.

It was close to midnight before we left, I can't even tell you the last time we dressed up and was out that late. It was definitely past my bedtime, and for those of you who know me I get a little slap happy when I am tired. And slap happy I was. Thank goodness for late church today!

Orange Fever

One thing I won't pass up are tickets to a Suns game. I am not a huge television sports gal, but you bring me their live and I am there! Doug's partner graciously gave these awesome seats to us against the Utah Jazz. (it's really rare for us to go) I quickly realized that I didn't own anything but a Spurs shirt. Luckily I have a 9 year old HUGE fan and he let me borrow his. (thanks Jared!)

I took this photo to show our kids just how close we were to the players and I couldn't believe how HUGE Shaq is in person. He seriously towers over all the players. It was such a close exciting game. Phoenix pulled through in the last few minutes (phew) I really don't think I could have handled the stress of overtime. Go Suns!

Date Night

self portrait at Pericos
(I NEED my camera back)

Yesterday afternoon Doug and I got a babysitter and headed out for a movie and dinner. I can't even tell you the last time we actually did that or both for that matter. We saw Spiderman 3 which was two thumbs up!! I highly enjoyed it. I realized watching previews how many great movies are coming out in the next few months....Bourne Identity, Ocean 13, Shrek 3, Pirates 3, and Harry Potter 5 just to name a few. It's been a long time since so many movies have been lined up for the summer. Afterwards we decided to try a new Mexican restaurant not to far from our house, Pericos. We had to wait for about 30 minutes to eat, which was fine we didn't have anyone whining at us. I would rate the food just okay. Their salsa was very good, but the chips were a bit to hard for my likening. We then headed to Target just to browse and then over to Chick Fila for a yummo vanilla shake. It was fun just to hang out and laugh, just like we did when we were dating. It reminded me that we definitely need to do it more often, which is sometimes tricky with finances and schedules. I think it's so important to continue dating your spouse.

The night ended watching Season 1 of The Office. Love that Blockbuster online!! I was a bit disappointed with the pilot. It did get better as more and more episodes were made. I think once you grasp the characters it doesn't matter what they do, it's just FUNNY.

good deed: mowed and edged the yard.

Hammered no more!

kitchen package from grandma

doodlebugs stationary from Natasha

Has it been nearly 48 hours? I received to packages in the mail yesterday. My grandma always goes above and beyond what she tells me she is sending. She found these slippers on sale and I guess along with those she added in a bunch of kitchen things. Thanks grandma. It was such a surprise! And speaking of surprises I never would have guessed I was the recipent of Natasha's pile of good mail she sent off the other day. I was so excited I was down to my last card and now I have a new package. Thanks so much Natasha! I am happy to say I am back in my good old (or I really should say Doug's) black computer chair. Yesterday was pretty much a FULL day. I woke up at 6:30am wide awake. Why does this happen on the days I can sleep in? Geesh. As soon as I saw the sun come up a little I went for a morning run. And man, do I wish I felt this way EVERY time I ran. I an intentions on running 4 miles, but Doug had a church basketball game so I was in a bit of a time crunch. I decided instead of running an extra mile to do my normal 3 but to sprint the entire way. I ran it in about 23:30. That may not seem very fast, but for me it was about a minute faster than I usually run it.

Doug left about 7:20am for his game. It was nice that he took Luke and Jared. I was able to change all the beds and do it quicker than normal with two less kids around. Once he came home, it was more or less and errand running day for our family. Taylor has dance each Saturday so for an hour and a half we "power" run around to the places we need to go. One of the stops was Sports Clips. Doug was in desperate need of a trim, but after about 20 minutes he gave up. He said he would just go sometime next week when it was less busy. This is me and the kids, we opted to stay in the car and were a "little bored" Good thing I have the camera for entertainment eh?

A little bored in the car.

We came home and put the boys down for naps/quiet time and I promised Taylor I would start her a blog. After the other day and her power point presentation I decided I would let her give it a try. I set it up under one of my blogs, so only certain people could read it. I am not sure how it works, but for safety reasons and her age I thought that was the best way to do it. So far she hasn't asked any questions and pretty much figured it out on her own.

We had a babysitter for the evening and Doug and I ran and grabbed a quick bite to eat. We rented this on the way home. It was okay according to Doug--I fell asleep within the first 45 minutes. I was seriously hammered last night for some reason. I am kinda bummed I fell asleep since I love Wil Ferrill movies. Anyways, here is our attempt to document our night out. By the time I got back from taking the babysitter home Doug was curled up on the couch with a blanket and reading book #4 of this series. As I have said a million other times--he seriously reads for the both of us.

Doug blocking the flash from the camera.
Nice zits Jenny!

Today I woke up not in the best of moods. I don't do well on fast Sunday, but after we got home, Doug made dinner, we ate and all was well. Tonight for FHE I did an object lesson on repentence. I wanted to have lessons on the atonement and repentence until Easter. I think repenting is a little over Jared's head, but hopefully after a few more lessons he will grasp the concept better. These are the rocks I used for the lesson.

I basically wrote sins on each rock and explained if we don't repent our sins are much like rocks in our bag or burdens on us. We ended the evening making Allison's cookie recipe. I am such a moron!! For some reason I added an extra ingredient (butter--duh!) Normally when you mess up a recipe you forget--- well I added. I couldn't figure out why they were so salty until it dawned on me I added butter. Hello, it doesn't call for butter!! So we'll have to try them again another time. I just didn't have the energy to do it tonight. Phew! That was some recap. It's a miracle I am actually looking forward to Monday! Janet comes tomorrow afternoon---hurray!

Saturday good deed: started Taylor a blog.
good deed: paid tithing and fasted.
