Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day started on a Friday with none other than muffins for mom at the school.

Luke gave me a special makeover. Okay I have a little bit of a clown mouth, but he did pretty good!
Then I was treated by a manicure with my favorite color pink.

Sunday we tried to get a snap shot of me and the kids. After several moans and groans, this is about as good as it got. Doug fixed me a wonderful meal, which included my favorite ribs, baked potatoes, rolls, followed by a coconut cream pie, oh my. The best part after I ate I left the table and didn't lift a finger. Slept for two hours and watched the Suns win! Most importantly, I feel extremely blessed to have 4 amazing children who all have different strengths and talents. It was a great Mother's Day!!

Queen For May

Being absent for three weeks in the blogging community feels like a lifetime.  Recaping that much time is nearly impossible. The other downside is the small things you forget on a day to day basis, the funny comments your kids make, or the observations you have driving in your car just gets forgotten.  But, what I can't forget is how well my children and husband treated me for Mother's Day. I was literally a Queen for the day.  Luke's kindergarten class had a workshop the Friday before Mother's Day.  It went from coloring to being served cookies all the way to a manicure by Luke himself.

Mother's Day came and went.  I can't forget how much I enjoy this holiday each time it comes around. Unlike last year, I had the opportunity to share with four important women in my life. My grandma never seems to want anything material except quality time with her family.  I decided to make one of my signature pies (which she also happens to love.

The weekend following Mother's Day, it was the Father son camp out.  Doug & Mark piled all the boys in and headed up near Roosevelt Lake to enjoy the cool pine trees.  The biggest highlight was not having to sleep in a tent.  The boys all piled in the camper (I think that is definitely my kind of camping).

One of the three photos Doug documented.
Doug and Mark's self portrait.

Apparently, car photos were the only ones that got taken.
Hey, but at least there's proof a Circle K stop was made.

While the boys were off in the wilderness, I took my 202 photography class last Saturday.  It was a FULL take and a ton of information.  The main focus was lighting.  I also was able to learn a portion about editing.  I found this photo quite humorous.  We had about 5 different sets of kids to practice on.  Because all 8 of us were practicing it looked like this poor 5 year old was dealing with the papperatzi.

Taylor was lucky enough to be one of the kid models.  This particular shoot was learning the natural sun flare.  Isn't it cool?  She was quite a trooper, it not only was terribly hot, but she ended up posing for about 1 hour.

The heat has definitely kicked in and THANKFULLY our friends down the street have allowed us to use their pool pretty much when we want.  Weston and Luke both have gone from very timid and having to wear a life vest, to jumping in the deep end and touching the bottom.

Last, but not least this little preschool trio has spent the majority of the school year together.  It has been so fun watching Weston's friendship grow with these two. I know for certain he will miss being at school with his best buddies.  The busyiness continues with my girls trip to California this weekend (running a half marathon) following a weekend getaway to visit our best friends in San Antonio.  It doesn't get better than that!

Treats Of All Sorts

My family always does such a great job at Mother's Day (my husband in particular). Sadly, most of the time (okay ALL of the time) I either find out what he has planned or some how guess the surprise. One thing I didn't know was after the baseball game on Saturday I came home to this envelope of goodness.

It has been months since I have actually gone shopping for myself, so it was an extra special treat. On top of that Doug took me to dinner at Chuy's. Double yum! We ended the evening catching up on Lost, The Office and Criminal Minds.

Sunday the goodness continued. We all slept in until 8:45am. I can't even tell you the last time I have done that. My kids each wrote me a letter which was quite endearing. Jared thanked me for making breakfast each day so he didn't starve--as did Luke and Taylor. I learned that I don't starve my children (phew!)

There is nothing better than white cake with buttercream icing.

Church was great as was the meal that Doug prepared (steak--yum!) I was showered with more homemade gifts from the kids along with several hugs and kisses. We ended the day with a kickball match (which I believe we tied) and some delicious cake (thank you Sam's Club!) I couldn't have been more blessed with such a fabulous day. A special thanks to Doug and the kids for treating me like a queen.

Honoring Mother's Day

I feel extremely blessed to have 4 healthy beautiful children and a fabulous husband who treats me like a queen. I also have 3 beautiful women whom I adore for Mother's Day, but this honor is going to be set aside for SPT on Tuesday. So, just for fun, here are the top 10 things you wouldn't ever hear me saying as a mom......

10). Because I said so.......okay you got me that is a pretty lame excuse.

9). Are you going out like that? How do you expect to land a guy if you don't show off more skin?

8). I thought I we could spend some quality bonding time together, lets either go get tattoos or our navels pierced.

7). Curfew, smurfew. Just be home by the time dad gets up for work.

6). It's okay to push your brother, he probably deserved it. Next time hit him harder!

5). Don't bother picking up, I was placed on this earth to be your maid.

4). No clean underware? Can't you just go without it today?

3). Take these scissors to your dad quickly. Run!!!

2). Good job on your report card, afterall D's do earn degrees.

1). As long as you are under my roof you can do whatever you want.

**Any ones you would like to add?**

Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!!!

Happy Birthday Mitch & Richard!!
