Doug and I went to a 6pm temple session on Friday. It was wonderful. Going to the temple is normally a great thing, but Friday was different. I felt like I needed to be there and actually went on a prompting. I left a blubbery mess, but I walked away feeling grateful for eternal families and having a strong happy marriage.
Saturday without going into a long drama saga was interesting. Jared's team lost for the 5th straight game in a row. They had homecoming, which in my opinion was a bit to over the top for 7 year olds. I left feeling pretty disappointed and angry all at once. My friend was escorted off the premises because she gave her son his inhaler on the field--parents normally aren't allowed (granted other words and such were exchanged) but seriously calling the cops?? Give me a break. I was sensing a bit of racial tension. This isn't the first incident either. No worries we weren't involved, just others we know. Doug and I are very unhappy with how things are going with his league and may not continue due to these circumstances. I left with a bad taste in my mouth for sure.
Later on I went to the mailbox to find these two delightful items, that seriously turned my day around. My good friend Lucy and I share a love for "So You Think You Can Dance" and she burned several songs from the show onto a cd. Taylor automatically stole it and has not stopped listening to it. It definitely is getting me excited for November when we actually get to see them perform. Yay! Andrea (the shoe obsessed) sent a sweet package for our newest doggy member. And you can bet I will be using both. Thanks Andrea. Both made my day.
Angie and I went and treated ourselves to pedicures Saturday night, went to eat and headed over to the stake center to watch the broadcast. Unfortunately, the satellite was down and they had the radio setup. It seriously sounded like we were in the stone age with crackling noises in the background. We ended up leaving (I know bad) and hooked up with some friends afterwards to indulge in one of these. So yummy!

good deed: Saturday helped Doug wash his car
good deed: had some friends over for dinner.

Today was bitter sweet. It was the last day we would be meeting as a ward. Next Sunday evening we will be meeting to find out the boundary changes and ward splits. (I wish they would have done it today instead of conference weekend!) I know for certain we will no longer be attending the stake building because the new one is literally right down the street. I am excited to be in the new building, but nervous and sad to see who we will be loosing. I almost felt like today was a goodbye meeting (which I guess it kinda was) our lesson in Relief Society was so touching. Each member of the presidency got up and shared an experience of how they have been served by others. I was glad I was able to hear because I definitely needed it. Here is one of the quotes that was read:

What a great picture of you and Doug. I'm loving the little Clouse uniform. How cute!!!! Are the dancers from SYTYCD? (like that?) coming to Texas? I'd LOVE to see them. I can't wait for next summer. Oh, and is that mud pie? It looked like it-that's my favorite! Sounds like you had a fun weekend.
Great post! How nice to go to the temple for a date. That is a cute picture of you and Doug.
Gotta love the ditching the R.S. Broadcast to go get dessert at the bar with friends. :D hahaha. The dessert is looking to die for. I'm glad you guys had fun!! Good weekend it sounds like.
Sorry about the football league. That sounds pretty bad. I wouldn't want to be a part of that either.
I've been feeling the pull of the temple lately, too. I really need to give in and just go!
It's so hard when your ward splits. In the last three years we've been through at least 6 splits. I've hated it every time, but it always ends up being for the best. Today our ward was split. It was a difficult day, but ultimately I feel really excited and motived to begin my stay in yet another new ward.
Football sounds way over the top. I've heard other parents say they feel like sports these days are way too serious, hard core, etc. No fun. I hope it works out somehow.
What a sweet post! I think going to the Temple is a great date night. I am so gald you were able to go with Doug.
So sorry about the football game :( ! WHAT your friend was escorted off the premises because she gave her son his inhaler.-- That is CRAZY!!!
What fun good mail from Lucy :)
I'm sorry, but I say ditch the football. Gees!! Anyhow, just catching up with you tonight. Keep the dress, hooray for girls' night out and temple with the honey. You sound like you are doing well. And I can Taylor come live with me? Love you Jenny!
What on earth happened at football? That's alittle overboard. Dean and I were just talking about football for Bret and how after listening to you and you experiences I don't want him to play pop warner. Dean dosen't want him to play it either. They seem way to intense for such young boy's to experience at such a young age.
Eee, your football experience sounds disturbing!
Very cute picture of you and Doug! I'm glad you found some peace at the temple.
In a few months they are going to start to build a church building in our town, and the two wards will become three. It distresses me to think about. Good luck adjusting!
Cute pictures-I love the one of Jared in his uniform. It is too bad that so much drama has to happen at a sport that is just supposed to be fun for the little ones! Aaron has had to deal with some pretty crazy parents in the past who think their kids are in the professional league or something. He tries to make sure they all remember their kids are little and should have fun, while improving their ability. Crazy!
That icecream thing you guys ate looks so good! I was bad tonight b/c I went to BJs with Melanie and Miranda and we shared a piezookie chocolate chip cookie! Oh, so good!
Love the SP of you and Doug at the temple! What a blessing it must be to have one in your very own city!
I hope your new ward transition goes well. That is always such a hard thing!
loving the pictures. and the spt at the temple is fab!
i love leaving our Mass with a feeling of renewal and a warmed heart. sounds like your experience, too?
I am so glad you went to the temple...I never leave feeling anything other than SO happy I went!
I know football is big in Texax, but at age SEVEN!? Sheesh! That would be hard for me!
I got home from mailing Bones' package, to find a birthday card in my box from you. THANKS!
What the heck...I had no idea about the church building being built. I can't picture where it is? I'm excited to hear about the new ward boundaries...hopefully it will help out your ward and help even out things in the stake.
You know my thoughts on the football thing. It has seemed a bit involved for such little guys. Hey, he ahs the rest of his life to play.
When I went to the Temple a few weeks ago I left a mess too, and it was actually one of the times where my thoughts were not roaming the entire session. Glad you had a good experience and date.
Too bad we missed out on the broadcast, but seriously I couldn't concentrate. The Mile High put me over and I caused me to weed through my clothes again last night.
I LOVE the San Antonio Temple. We went to there for the open house then moved back to AZ shortly after. The kids loved it! What a cute picture of you two!
What a crazy football story. At least you can say it wasn't you, but still c'mon they're kids! They don't need to see that.
Wow, what a weekend! I love it when I leave the temple feeling so edified.
That sounds pretty crazy about the football league. Much too intense for my liking, I think!
Cute pictures of you and Doug and you and Angie.
So sorry to hear about the football game. It just sounds ridiculous!
Really cute picture at the temple and so gald you were able to go and enjoy. So cute, goodmail for your dog!
I love that quote! Thanks for sharing. I really need to get to the temple also. I love when we can make it happen. It just seems like everything is pulling at you not to go.
The football leauge doesn't sound so good. I think I would be with you and stop going. Ours starts tomorrow. I hope it goes well.
I can't believe that football is that serious. Caleb has had to wait until this year before he could even play flag football. I don't think we even have a program like yours. Names on jerseys and everything! Sorry that it's been so frustrating.
The rest of the weekend looks great, though.
Your new church building looks exactly like ours. It's a beautiful building. Love the picture of you and Doug at the temple. I went on Wednesday night and had a great experience too. It must be in the air.
So disturbing about Jared's football experience. I'm sure you'll be relieved when it's over.
I love that quote from Lucy Mack Smith.
I also got one of Lucy's great cd's. So fun to have something new to listen to.
Your football experience is not sounding so good. I think I would be done too.
Love the self portrait in front of the temple. Great idea!
Football would be over in my book too. What are they trying to teach the kids anyway. Doesn't sound very positive.
LOVE the quote from Lucy Mack.
Good for you for giving the broadcast a try! It looks like it was a fun girls night out! I am sorry about foorball. We put our oldest in it once, and never ever again. I hope your having a great day! Good for you both for going to the temple!
Oh I love that quote by Lucy Mack! Beautiful! I, too, need to give in to my strong impressions to get to the temple...even if it's on my own (babysitter for four for that long not likely). It's pretty sad when we live surrounded by so many, and yet....
Sorry to hear the broadcast didn't work out..it was completely what I needed to hear. But, if I had been in the same situation, I would have ditched and waited to read it. That dessert speaks for itself!
Good mail has been truly making my day, lately.
Too bad about the football league...way too serious for 7 year olds! I cannot believe that mother was excorted off for giving her son his inhaler!!!!
Ward splits as incredibly necessary, but incredibly hard. The adjustments are always accompanied with prayers (for me). Change is hard.
Good luck with it all! I do love your SP in front of the temple!
I'm glad you had a good time at the Temple with your Hubby and that dessert looks YUM!!!
Wow your dessert is fabulous!!! i want some - what a great date night too - it has been far too long since we've gone together.
Your football players look dang cute but sorry about the season - that is a bummer
And your new building is beautiful! I wish we had some of those in california - it will be sad though to have your ward boundaries changed - but hopefully you'll still be in the same stake!
So much goodness in this post. I need to get myself to the temple soon. It always pays to follow those promptings. I hope your split will turn out less painful than you're thinking. That kind of change is always hard.
And holy cow! That dessert looks yum!
I'm with Becca it is soo true...glad you had a good visit and that foto of you and doug looks soo nice and the jersey...I guess I will be heading some kind of sport direction in the future...with two boys
I would drop that football program like I do a diet!
Glad you (and Taylor) got the CD. You know, you probably should practice some moves in case one of the dancers gets injured and you need to bail them out:)
Jenny I am so glad I am able to read your blog again. I love the picture of the temple is awesome. Jason and I need to go check it out
Very cool temple self portrait. I'm surprised the ward boundary changes are being done on Sunday night like that. I've never heard of anything like that before!
