Loosing The Midas Touch

I have decided I am an emotional mess or a psych's best patient? You choose. I am weeping one minute, followed by pulling my hair out the next. I know that there is a lot of stress going on in my life, but seriously. What is my problem? I have been in a funk for nearly six weeks and can't seem to place a finger onto a specific reason. My kids are doing great in school, I have a wonderful caring husband and I can't snap out of it. Doug was on call this weekend. It's probably one of the worst calls he has had in nearly 7 months. His phone would NOT stop ringing. He made several trips back and forth to the hospital and did 2 surgeries well into the night last night. I have gotten so used to him being around at night (sometimes late, but at least he is in bed), that him being gone threw me through a loop. Single parenting is crimping my style. Apparently, I don't even know how to cope with that anymore. I put the kids to bed and had a date with Grey's Anatomy (which didn't help my mood) I am beginning to relate with Meredith Grey. Pretty pathetic. Geesh. Well, I am off to medicate with some of this. I know, I know, woe is me. Wanna join me?

I always turn to chocolate chip therapy, myself. Mostly due to a lack of preparation because icecream therapy looks much much better.
Feel better!!!

Hey, Jenny I'd join you for some of that ice cream, but I'm not exactly around the corner or down the street. I hope your funk wears off soon! You are almost to the end! :)

You do have so much on your plate right now. Lots of big changes on the horizon are always so stressful, even when it's good things that are happening.

I hope the ice cream therapy helps and you're able to feel more like yourself soon!

I totaly here you! I don't know how single parents do it all the time! I have been doing it a lot also this weekend and I am done! I am so scared for summer when they will be home all the time. I am glad that I am not the only one who medicates with ice cream. I just wish I could look like you when I do it! Good luck and hope it gets better for you.

Excellent therapy... I would join you if I could.

You do have a lot going on but a six week slump is not fun... I hope once you get settled in AZ and feel like your real life has begun your old self comes back. The limbo stage is just HARD.

I don't wonder why you're in a funk. You have a ton going on right now and lots of pressure...new house, trying to sell a house, 4 kids and their activities, and the whole ordeal with your van recently is enough to put anyone in a funk. Your life is stressful right now. I sure hope something gives soon so that you can feel at ease about these major events that are going on in your life.

That ice cream looks so good. How do you eat that and stay so thin? :D

That's some seriously good therapy. And I'm not surprised if you need it often. You're going somewhere you love, but leaving so much you love as well. And doing all this with a full house has got to take its toll! Wishing you the best..

Poor Jenny. Wallow in it, there is definitely a reason for all this stress and it won't be much longer!

I have perfected a caramel popcorn therapy recipe that takes all of 2 minutes. I need new therapy. Hope the ice cream did the trick for you.

And you are absolutely not Meredith! You're just stressed, not melodramatic and self absorbed. :)

I know everything will fall into place for you guys!:)
Love you!

I've SO been there! Earlier this year, in fact. There are just those times when it seems hard to see the sun past the clouds of life. Hang in there. I've told you about my "This too shall pass" list, right? I read it and am reminded of the hard things that don't seem so hard anymore. It will pass, sooner or later.

I. Hear. You. Loud and clear that is! I just can't seem to find my good mood groove last longer than an hour. And then it's back again. I just want to make it stop but I haven't found the magic. Oh I hope the ice cream helped if even for a short while. Love that flavor!

Like Angie said, maybe a girl's night....

I've never taken to a pint of ice cream, mainly because ice cream never sits well on my stomach - but I do like cookies or candy for a little therapy. Change is so hard to take, the leading up to a big change, the actual change, and the getting used to the change - is a very hard thing to do. Thanks for your sunny outlook - you are a wonderful example of keeping things going and together.

You have so many changes coming and no matter how much you prepare and want them- its still change! Different, new, exciting= emotional! And you'll probably be in a funk once you get to AZ too- I'm now pulling out of it and its been a year! Why does change have to be hard?

I just sat down with a bowl of icecream myself. There is nothing worse than selling a house. The last house we sold was on the market for 9 long months. I was so glad to be rid of it when it was all over.

You've had more than enough reasons to fall into a slump lately. So I'm so glad you have a beautiful home waiting for you at the end of the tunnel. I meant to tell you on your previous post that we too had many people over the course of a few months come through when our house was sold and I didn't understand why the offers weren't accompanying them. Finally the offers started coming -sweet relief. I hope your relief in that area comes soon!! Thinking of you.

I get into those funks too. I'm sorry.

I hope things are going slightly better for you. I am one more annoying thing away from the nut-house myself. We can do it, Jenny!
