Card Board Boxes

Kari Dawn, Ellice, Jenny, Lisa & Nicole

Despite my house being one card board box, I insisted on holding MY last official girls night in San Antonio. We were missing about 5 or 6 girls the other night due to busy schedules and summer vacationing, I am getting weeping just typing it. On one hand, I am thrilled to actually be moving back by family. BUT, it's going to take some adjusting since the past 13 years Doug and I have not only relied solely each other, but the friends we have met along the way. My friends have become my family in so many ways. I have to admit mixed in with the excitement, I have some serious anxiety. Along with a new house comes new ward, new schools, finding new places for my kids extra activities and MAKING new friends. Ugh. Another bummer part is Doug still has 4 weeks of work left in San Antonio after we move. The thought of that alone is very unsettling.

Amongst all of the packing going on in our house....I finally finished up my moving announcements. I started them over 4 months ago without an address. I decided to go SIMPLE. I saw the idea in a magazine and with the mail prices going up I wanted to be economical as well. AND they are totally recycled boxes. I plan on sending them out by the end of this week. And if by chance you don't get one via snail mail, please don't think it's because I forgot you or didn't want you to have one. You can click the photo to enlarge for our information. Exactly 2 weeks today we will be driving away from our first Texas home. **sniff, sniff** Be prepared for some up and coming somber posts. These announcements will go into effect starting June 27th.

Last Minute

What is up with my pizza face? Ick!
(apparently I am not only feeling stress, but wearing it--ha!)

Are we already in May? My word time is flying faster than ever! Friday Angie had been invited to go see a movie with some of the ladies in her neighborhood. She called me to tag along (since she really didn't know them very well). Since we had about an hour to kill, I was expressing how nasty my feet were and how a pedicure sounded heavenly. There was a nail place right behind the theater and they worked us in at the last minute. Hurray! I was trying to explain to the lady (who didn't speak English very well) that I wanted a thin black line (like eyeliner) under my french manicure. It turned out okay, but I probably should have just left it plain.

With 10 minutes to spare we quickly headed over to grab a bite to eat shoved it into our bags and sat just before the previews started. I thought the movie was great and I haven't laughed that hard in a really long time. It was just the medicine I needed after a stressful month. If you haven't seen it, grab your girlfriends and go! (I am a total sucker for Patrick Dempsey).

Our weekend was consumed with baseball/softball. Jared's team lost again Saturday. They are definitely in a loosing streak. In fact, on our way to the game last night Jared expressed how discouraged he was and that they would probably loose again. They were playing against one of the top teams in the league (The Astros). The coach on that team is beyond buggy. He is a little too hard core for my taste. Jared's team pulled it together and the boys hit like I have never seen them do in the past. The game was close throughout, (seriously a nail biter) but they managed to pull through and win 9-8. It was the greatest victory! The best part was after the game (coach Tim normally talks to the boys) and he said, "See doesn't it feel good to work together and win?!" It was so funny. Hopefully, this win boosted their confidence and they will play this well Saturday. I wish I would have captured their faces after the game, but this is one of the only shots I have. Dang!

I am feeling down to the wire on so many things. The kids only have a month of school left, we move in 7 weeks, my friend Sara moves in 2 weeks, Mother's Day and Angie's birthday are around the corner. Time needs to slow down. Ahhhh!

SPT--Green Generation

If you participated SPT last year, (I did) are you doing anything *greener* this year? Yikes-- I always dread year "check in" reviews, especially if I totally slack. I am come to realize that I really am not very "green" with the environment. BUT, this past weekend Luke had to make a Fiesta Box for his upcoming parade that takes place tomorrow. I had all intentions on going out and buying supplies for this big event....why do that when you can scrounge up some cool stuff around the house? Exactly what we did. I made the mistake last year and missed the **wink wink** "memo" that parents go all out for this preschool fiesta parade. Not wanting to make the very same mistake as last year, we decided to go with a theme that Luke picked all on his own. Here is what we came up with:

Luke's favorite toys are his tools.
I thought it was more than appropriate for his float to contain this.
Look out Bob here comes Luke the builder!

they are expected to reach $4 by the summer!
(perfect time for moving a ginormous truck--ha!)

Also, with gas prices sky rocketing.... Gasp! I volunteered to be the driver last night for our girls night out at Angie's. I felt sorta like a tour guide in my mom mini van. It was the first time several have even set foot in her new home. We trekked out to Camp Bullis Road (which really isn't THAT far) and in honor of Earth day, I offered to drive. Carpooling counts as going green right?

We all came in one car (minus 2) and all left in one car. Thanks Ang for the delicious chips/dip and brownie sundaes. My 1:00am hang over was TOTALLY worth it!

Midnight All Week

Bunco Ladies
Ellice, Sara, Angie, Jenny, and Sandy
(missing Nicole)

I am not one to function on very little sleep and it's slowly catching up with me today. The first late night was Monday at Nicole's for bunco night. (okay so we forgot the game--but it was still super fun) I am so glad we started it!! Why we didn't several years ago I will never know. Anyways, we left her house around 12:30pm and as we were driving home we noticed some suspicious high schoolers roaming the streets. Where are their parents?? Anyways, Sara called the cops since they looked like they were up to nothing but trouble. We decided to be gutsy (4 girls in a car) and drive back by them just to see if they were spray painting or something. We have a serious problem in our neighborhood with it, it's terrible. Anyways, the next drive by we witnessed them trying to rip out the stop sign. Idiots! It didn't even phase them we were flashing headlights on them. We again called the police to tell them what we saw. We didn't hang around to see what happened, and quite honestly if we did another drive by we may have been spray painted or something.

my cute red ipod

Last night I was again up until past midnight. I decided to finish up some more projects to take home with me for Christmas. And we all know that mom's have to get things done with kids in bed. I got some stuff embroidered and then spent most of the time updating mine and Doug's ipod. I have become so incredibly sick of my running music I figured it was time to download some new stuff. This of course is always more time consuming than you think--but hey it's done and we have some new jams!

Don't you love the homemade warpaint?
He sang so loud and looks more like an elf--poor dude!

Today was Luke's Thanksgiving feast. It was so cute. The parents were responsible for putting them in pilgrim or Indian attire and they sang a few songs. Sadly, I didn't do so well again with the parent responsibility part. I sorta felt like I was having deja vu' with Luke's Fiesta float. All the parents had their children in full on outfits for the program. Oops. Who has a pilgrim outfit in their dressup box? Apparently I am the only person. Where do they get these?? And I wasn't about to make one, luckily they had an extra shirt to fill his Indian part. Looks like tonight we are in for another late one as well with with our concert. Details to follow..........

good deed: watched my friends kids while she went to the dentist
good deed: made Doug a new ipod mix
